The body is as relevant in contemporary art as it was during the Classical Greek and Roman periods. However due to the power of fashion, film, theatre and television the body has become a commodity. The multi-faceted renderings show the body as the subject, the object and the viewer. "Looking at the Body" is an exploration of how the body is viewed in contemporary society. Through the relationships between the artist and subject, the nude and the body, gender and the body, fashion and body, performance and the body, sex and the body and the body as seen in the contemporary, digital society Goodacre examines the body's transformation from the body as flesh §16§ into the body as image.
