Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most prevalent neurodevelopmental disorders affecting children and adolescents worldwide, with profound implications that extend beyond behavior and academics to overall health, including oral health. In the realm of dentistry especially pediatric dentistry - ADHD poses unique challenges and requires a nuanced, compassionate, and well-informed approach. The complex interplay between behavioral impulsivity, reduced attention span, and possible side effects of pharmacological treatments contributes significantly to an increased risk of dental caries, traumatic dental injuries, poor oral hygiene, and non-compliance with routine dental visits. ADHD in dentistry is not merely a behavioral issue - it is a multidisciplinary concern that touches on preventive care, pharmacology, psychology, and patient-centered communication. This work will help us adopt a holistic and informed approach, enabling us to play a crucial role in improving both oral health and overall quality of life for children with ADHD.
